158. Virtual Virginity #8

Except as some woman has captured a man’s devotion and short-circuited his nature in favor of reason, vows, and allegiance to her, the male nature and hormonal mindset prioritize sexual pursuits and targets this way:

First, conquering with this order of value:

·         An attractive female for the sake of conquest.

·         An attractive but hard-to-get female.

Second, conquering someone of lesser attractiveness.

Third, having access to frequent and convenient sex.

Fourth, retaining the freedom to chase other targets.

A man’s verbal commitment may nullify the fourth priority if his relationship fulfills the third priority.

It takes his well-developed devotion to neutralize all four priorities. Her having been the object of the first priority above accelerates the growth of a man’s devotion by the simple expedient of his having invested so much time and effort with her.

Providing sex can lead to a man’s verbal commitment, but that’s not the same as actions that prove his devotion. It takes virginity—real or virtual—to energize and enlarge devotion to its lifetime best.
