Her primal need for a brighter future versus his primal drive to compete.
Women work endlessly to brighten their future. However, they acknowledge that their physical abilities make them less than ideal for both survival and brightening the future sufficiently for each woman’s expectations. Their mental facilities make them ideal for identifying and recruiting help. And so, women exploit their own mind and heart to engage masculine strength and manly willingness to please one female.
Furthermore, women intuitively recognize that men can produce, accumulate, and protect wealth for the good life much easier than women can, and the promises of greater wealth by one man leads to a brighter future for his mate. (None of the foregoing touches on the issue of careers or even women in the workforce. This series describes the male and female natures without those societal pressures and cultural values affecting decisions.)
Men are driven to overcome the obstructions of Nature, compete with other men, and shape human events. They strive to create and connect multiple events so that their activity promises a win each day. Their concerns about tomorrow shift to routine rest and preparation.
Men don’t spend much time worrying about the future. They expect to handle whatever comes. Their primary concern with the future rests on the need to survive in their current role as provider/protector and to preserve and hopefully increase whatever influence they have in the domains of their own making. They work first for self and second for whomever else they feel responsible. Consequently, job loss threatens their survival as competitor, as guardian of their role in shaping human events, and as provider/protector. As perceived by those terminated, job loss threatens a man’s ability to live a productive life with dire consequences for his need of self-admiration (more in part 5).
