1135. Sex in a Nutshell: Yesteryear

Post 1134 described modern times. This post looks at the role of sex in earlier America. Following the female nature, women were motivated to both withhold and provide sex in order to promote their self-interest. It:

  • Energized females to gain advantage, which
  • Induced males to follow the female lead regarding sexual relations, which
  • Motivated men to do whatever females require for men to have frequent and convenient access to sex, which
  • Motivated women to live up to something bigger than their selves, usually God, husband, family, Judeo-Christian values, and moral uprightness, which
  • Empowered females to civilize boys, tame teens, and domesticate men for good husbanding and fathering, which
  • Encouraged women to rise above male behavior and especially the sexual, which
  • Taught women that fulfilling female hopes and dreams more closely aligned with marriage before sex than premarital sex, which
  • Denied men cheap and easy access to sex, which
  • Taught men that access to sex came from helping fulfill female hopes and dreams, which
  • Encouraged men to look beyond sexual attractiveness to perceive a woman’s full worth, to value her as person rather than sex target, which
  • Motivated men to bypass sex before marriage, which
  • Caused men to pursue for permanent capture a good woman and effective wife, which
  • Made men compete with men for women with good wifely traits, which
  • Taught women to promote good wifely traits and habits in order to capture a husband, which
  • Prompted women to value and expect a man’s devotion over and above her need for friendship, which
  • Motivated women to develop close and trustworthy female friends to compensate for marital friendship shortcomings, which
  • Bred trust among females; made them more sensitive, soft-hearted, and prone to be grateful and happy with each other, which
  • Elevated female standards and expectations of men in courtship and marriage, which
  • Inspired men to prove themselves respectful of women generally and worthy of one in particular, which
  • Put females in the driver’s seat for shaping cultural values (why people do what they do in society), which
  • Enabled girls and new generations to handle teen hormone hurricanes with wisdom learned at parental knees, which
  • Kept males more closely aligned mentally with women their age, which
  • Intensified manly commitment and devotion to wife, which
  • Inspired wives to prettify their selves and specialize in femininity, lady-like behavior, and traits and techniques that stabilize family and harmonize marriage, which
  • Made females more attractive to a man seeking to fulfill his masculine primal need for a place to flop, eat, throw his things, and prepare for tomorrow’s battles, which
  • Increased the need for men to prove themselves respectful of women generally and worthy of one in particular, which
  • Made men compete with men for female favor, which
  • Kept men from applying excessive pressure to bed a female, which
  • Returned the ball to the females’ court and loops this endless process back to the top for further concentration of human behaviors around fulfilling female hopes and dreams.

The cultural values surrounding courtship without sex thus prioritized female hopes and dreams to the top of society’s goals. Women specialized in being less like men. They sent husbands to work to improve society according to cultural values established and upheld by wives. Females of all ages relied on their female nature to overpower the primal urges of males. But it happened that way many years ago.
